Li's Priorities

Combat Climate Change

Accelerate efforts to combat climate change

  • Maximize opportunities from the recently passed Federal Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 to electrify buildings and install additional electric vehicle charging stations, especially in multi-family developments.

  • Decarbonize and increase efficiency of city facilities, fleet, and equipment.

  • Expand alternative transportation options by increasing road safety for pedestrians and cyclists, completing a network of active transportation infrastructure, and strengthening transit access through regional collaboration.

  • Continue work on capital projects addressing sea level rise, some in collaboration with neighboring cities.

Sustainable City Growth

Ensure sufficient infrastructure and services to maintain our high quality of life while we expand housing opportunities for everyone

  • Provide ample park space in all neighborhoods, focusing on areas that are park deficient, and create biodiversity throughout the city to support wildlife.

  • Analyze service needs and resources in light of anticipated city growth, especially in public safety, public works, neighborhood/recreational programs, and water.

  • Maintain the city’s excellent financial position - its AAA credit rating, diversified revenue streams, strong reserves, and wise investments.

  • Identify additional funding sources to increase the amount of affordable housing in the city, while also partnering with others to increase home ownership opportunities.

  • Strengthen the partnership with our schools to plan and respond to growing student enrollment from increased housing development.

  • Comprehensively plan the city through reopening the General Plan and Precise Plans rather than piecemeal development as in the R3 process.

Revitalize Local Economy

Revitalize our local economy by supporting our businesses in recovering from the pandemic, with special focus on small businesses

  • Increase outreach to business owners throughout the city to effectively understand and respond to their needs and concerns.

  • Review and revise outdated requirements and guidelines that impede opening and maintaining small businesses.

  • Implement recommendations from the upcoming city commissioned economic vitality strategy.
